CD16 Follicle Check

This afternoon I had another ultrasound (CD16) to check on my growing follicles, and they still weren’t quite ready! I now have 3 front runners: 16, 16, and 18 (I really wanted 4, but 3 isn’t bad). My RE said it was okay that they were slower to develop this cycle, it won’t have any impact on the success/failure. He’s scheduled our IUI for Monday, February 3rd. Continue reading

Award winning!

liebsterblogawardI’d like to give a big HUG and THANK YOU to Lindsey at Awaiting Autumn for nominating me for a Liebster Award, you are so sweet this meant so much to me. I decided to accept my nomination as a welcome distraction from my normal posts about cycle days, tests, shots, pills and procedures….plus it’s a fun way to get to know me better.

I’m so glad that I decided to start blogging about my infertility journey in September of 2013 and so thankful that so many of you actually care what’s going on in my life, at least enough to read and comment regularly on my blog, lol. Continue reading

Infertility & the workplace

I had been toying with the idea of telling my bosses about our fertility treatments lately, and yesterday when a friend blogged about the same thing I knew it was time to pull the trigger. Our treatments and appointments don’t interfere with my work schedule much, because thankfully our RE’s office is in the same city….but it’s a bit much on a week like this week where I have 3 doctor’s appointments, I had an ultrasound yesterday morning, I’ll have another ultrasound Wednesday, then probably my IUI Friday.

I’m pretty sure my bosses will be more than understanding. My workplace is flexible and accommodating, but I think by being honest with them I will be less stressed on days I have appointments about missing time. Currently I just get anxious about taking time off, I don’t want them to think I’m abusing the system or anything like that. Continue reading

CD14 Follicle Check

I had my CD14 follicle check ultrasound this morning. No news, all of my follicles are still too small. My front runners are 14, 13, 12 and 12….and I have several 10’s (they have to be at least 15 to even be viable). So now I have another appointment Wednesday where I’ll have another ultrasound to check on my follicles again. Hopefully they’ll be bigger then, but I’m excited that there are 4 this time that will probably be viable….maybe more! If all goes well Wednesday I’ll probably be told to administer my HCG shot Wednesday night, then they’ll schedule the IUI for Friday morning. Fingers crossed that my follicles continue to grow over the next few days 🙂

Clomid headaches

headacheToday will be my 4th day on Clomid for this cycle, I’ve taken 3 doses so far (I take my pills/vitamins at night). Last night I started to get the worst headache, almost migraine…..and today it’s worse. I forgot how terrible the headaches were last Clomid cycle! DAMN YOU CLOMID! Continue reading

Post-op appointment

This morning I had my post-op appointment. Everything went fine, RE said my wounds are healing up just as they should be.

To back track a bit, the pain after the operation was more than I imagined it to be. The pain was mainly in my lower abdomen, I think from where the instruments had been inside of my body moving around…..just felt very sore there. I used ice the first day, then had R pick up a heating pad to use going forward. Continue reading

Surgery went great!!

Sitting in recovery now sipping ginger ale waiting for R to finish up at work and come get me. I’ve got a little pain in my stomach, but it’s not too bad. I have 2 incisions on my belly button and one a little lower by my panty line.

Now for the good news part….both of my tubes are COMPLETELY OPEN!!! Apparently sometimes when they do the HSG test your body can spasm making your tube(s) appear blocked when they really aren’t. When this happens the only way to get a true picture of what’s going on is the surgery I had. My RE said he found a small spot of Endometrosis, but nothing to be too concerned about…..and nothing that should prevent me from getting pregnant. I have a post-op appointment scheduled for next Wednesday, he said we’d lay out a plan of action then…..but I’m assuming I should be starting IUI’s again VERY VERY soon! Continue reading

Well that was fun

20140107-173229.jpgSo today I had to start my all clear liquids diet in preparation for my surgery tomorrow, so not cool. I’ m telling you what, when I had dinner last night I was mad just thinking of  how hungry I thought I’d be today, lol. I left work at 2:00 pm and took my 4 Dulcolax on the way home then started the Miralax with 8 oz of Lemonade/Gatorade an hour later then again every 10 minutes until the bottle was finished…..I literally had to set an alarm. 8 oz of liquid every 10 minutes is a lot of liquids! By about the 5th round I became uncomfortably full, then started spending some QT with my toilet. Around 5pm I finished the whole bottle of Miralax. All in all it wasn’t so bad. The Miralax mixed great with the lemonade/Gatorade and I couldn’t taste it at all. I was really dreading the liquid diet, but it wasn’t so bad either….started my day with a cup of black coffee (worst part of the diet bc I’m addicted to flavored creamer), had a ginger ale around 10, then at noon I had chicken broth and jello. Don’t get me wrong, I was definitely hungry…..but once I started the bowel prep food was the last thing on my mind! Just laying in bed now trying to relax watching Netflix in between urgent trips to the bathroom. Continue reading

5 days until I go under the knife

surgery

This morning I had my pre-op appointment for my upcoming surgery. I had 2 separate appointments….the first was at my RE’s office at 11:30 and the second at the hospital (my RE’s office is located inside of the hospital so I didn’t have to drive anywhere else) at 1:30, but they were able to squeeze me in earlier so I finished up around 1:00 pm.

The plan is to have 3 procedures on Wednesday: a repeat HSG test, hysteroscopy, and laparoscopy. I asked RE if by chance the repeat HSG test didn’t show a blockage this time would he stop and not do the other two procedures…..he said no. He is going to perform all three no matter what, he wants to get to the bottom of these issues and really can’t do so without doing all three. Continue reading
