How much do infertility treatments cost?

money ppppInfertility testing and treatments can add up so quickly. I’ve kept track of all of our costs, just for informational purposes and just wanted to share….for those of you interested, and those of you that might be just starting out on  your journey, just as an idea of what to expect. We have decent insurance, and they’ve covered a decent bit of everything we’ve tried so far, but we’re still out of pocket a good bit Continue reading

IUI #4, here we go!

Today’s appointment was such a waste, there’s no reason it couldn’t have been tied into the appointment I had last Tuesday…..and R didn’t even really have to come with me (even though he did). With the dosage of hMG I’ll be taking my RE said the likelihood of OHSS is slim to none. Then we went over the statistics regarding multiples AGAIN. Jeez, if we talk about it one more time I think R will get cold feet and back out. He gave us a consent form to take home and read over and bring back on my next appointment…..about the medication, what it does, and the chance of multiples. Did you know that hMG, the injectables I’m going to be taking, is purified urine from postmenopausal women?!? How gross is that?!? Continue reading

Selective reduction & OHSS

So after my mild freak out Friday I actually was able to relax and have a wonderful weekend. I was thinking about how calm I’ve been lately, but I”m sure it’s just because we’ve “been on a break”. I’m sure that all of this calm will go out the window as soon as our next cycle starts. Guess we’ll see. Lately, instead of just praying that God will bless us with a child, I’ve been praying for peace. Maybe it’s helping. Continue reading

Moving right along

This afternoon I had an appointment with my RE to check on my cyst and talk about the protocol for our upcoming cycle. R was supposed to come with me. We talked about it last week, I put it on his calendar, but sure enough when I was talking with him about it last night he said he was going to be stuck in another town with clients and he wouldn’t be able to make it. It ended up not being that big of a deal at all that he wasn’t there. First I had an ultrasound, and I was cyst free, so that’s awesome! Next I went to my RE’s office where we talked. He had a student doctor with him today so he printed off my history so they could read over it. It was a whopping 5 pages and he said, “it’s about time to get you pregnant before we have to go on to a sixth sheet!” I couldn’t agree more! Continue reading

Cysts, again?!?

MjAxMy0xZjU2NjEwN2VmOGZmNzRjAt 12dpiui I took another HPT and it was negative, and I just knew that this cycle was over and IUI #3 had failed. I stopped taking my progesterone and had my follow up appointment this morning. They made me pee in a cup for a urine pregnancy test. Typical protocol, but just felt like a slap in the face….again. Then I met with my RE, he suggested we go ahead and do an ultrasound today to check for cysts to determine what we would do next. Looks like I have 2 cysts, so I have to take a cycle off. Post-op appointment

This morning I had my post-op appointment. Everything went fine, RE said my wounds are healing up just as they should be.

To back track a bit, the pain after the operation was more than I imagined it to be. The pain was mainly in my lower abdomen, I think from where the instruments had been inside of my body moving around…..just felt very sore there. I used ice the first day, then had R pick up a heating pad to use going forward. Continue reading

Surgery has been tentatively scheduled

laparoscopeAF came to visit this morning making today CD 1, just lovely. And finally my laparoscopy surgery has been tentatively scheduled for January 8th….it had to be after January 1st at the earliest because that’s when our new insurance will become effective. Hoping to firm up that date soon so I can give work as much notice as possible. I’ll start taking Norethindrone (5mg twice a day) on CD 3 (Christmas Day). RE said to continue all supplements, that they wouldn’t haven an impact on the medication or surgery. Continue reading
