Day of Hope

august19Today, August 19th, is a Day of Hope. It has been an international event held internationally since 2008. It was created to help break the silence surrounding the death of babies and children. It is a day that brings healing to our community as we unite together to speak openly about the babies and children who are no longer here.

I feel so very fortunate to live in a time where so many of us are working together to break down the walls of society that keep the death of babies and children of any age or gestation a hush-hush subject. So many people view the death of a baby as just a sad thing that happened. These babies that die are not sad things that happen. They are human beings and much-loved and wanted sons and daughters, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, grandsons and granddaughters.

August 19th is about coming together as a whole community to openly speak about these children and celebrating their short lives. ~CarlyMarie – Project Heal

Today I remember the babies lost by several of my friends, and our own baby that was taken much too soon. I will be saying a special prayer of healing for all of my friends who have suffered a loss, and for those that I might not even know about.
