The neverending story

image194-this-gritty-concept-art-is-everything-i-want-from-a-neverending-story-remakeI had another blood draw this past Monday, THIRTEEN WEEKS after my first dose of methotrexate for my ectopic pregnancy….and the result was 8. My HCG is still 8, after all this time. My RE doesn’t seem concerned about it, and just asked that I retest in another 2 months, but JEEZ!!!!!!!!!! Continue reading

Shakeology 3-Day Refresh – Review

Since I’ve been doing BeachBody workouts on and off for 2 years now I’ve often heard of Shakeology, how good it tastes, and how good it is for you. So after receiving a free sample of chocolate Shakeology last week and LOVING it, I decided to finally order it for myself. And since they were having a special including a bag of Shakeology + the 3-Day Refresh (for just $20 more than it would cost for Shakeology alone) I decided to give it a go too. Let me tell you, I was very pleased with the results of the 3-day refresh.

Results: I lost 3.6 lbs, 2 inches from my waist, 1 inch from my hips, and 0.5 inches from my arms. Continue reading

Fit Test #4

This past Saturday I finished week 6 of Insanity (keep in mind that for whatever reason they don’t count the recovery week as a week, so I’ve really been at it for 7 weeks now!). Yesterday I decided to go ahead and do my 4th fit test, because I didn’t think I’d feel like doing 2 workouts today, that’s a lot for a Monday!! I saw improvements in just about every exercise! Also, this was the first week I was able to do push-up jacks, the previous weeks I just did “girl push ups”, which is why I put the ** beside of those numbers. Now, don’t get me wrong….I’m not able to do a full push-up jack, but I’m VERY close to the real thing. Feeling very proud of myself and stronger each day. Continue reading

Finally, the scale is going in the right direction!!!

MFP

I didn’t even bother weighing myself last Friday (Fourth of July — an American holiday) because we had company in town and I was basically eating junk and drinking alcohol EVERYDAY, so I didn’t even want to know. But I’ve stayed on track this week (for the most part), and this morning I was down 0.8 lbs since my last weigh in (6/27). I plan to do my measurements too sometime this week to see how those are shaping up, I’ll keep you posted. Super excited to see the scale finally moving in the right direction….now, to keep it going!!  Continue reading

Meal prepping

Eating healthy meals is easy if you have the time to grocery shop and prepare the meals….but most nights after work it’s all I can do to get a workout in, let alone prepare a healthy dinner and/or lunch for the next day, then clean the dishes before bed. I’ve always said if I could afford a private chef I would have NO EXCUSE but to be fit!

So what’s the solution? Meal prepping!! Cooking several items to have for lunches/dinners throughout the week. It takes a little longer on the 1 night you do the prepping, but then you’re set for several days and don’t have to fool with cooking or cleaning dishes! I was on Pinterest yesterday and found a really neat website, Picky Palate, that had some great ideas and great recipes.  Continue reading

Meal replacements

insanityI originally ordered Insanity in 2012. My husband & I did the program for 7 weeks (R only managed to stick with it for 4 of those 7)….and I saw amazing results, I lost almost 20 lbs. But I was nearly starving myself, and using an appetite suppressant (not the healthiest way to go about weight loss). When I was comfortable with my body again I stopped working out and went back to my old ways of eating and sure enough over the next few months I gained it all back….and then some. Now fast forward 2 years and I’m 15 lbs heavier than I was when I started insanity the first time….jeez!! I realize this needs to be a lifestyle change, not just a temporary diet & exercise plan….but that’s where my biggest struggles are. Continue reading

Time to get back on track

get-back-on-trackLast week was a BLAST! We had friends and family in town Wednesday-Sunday for the July 4th holiday. I got to meet my new niece (3 weeks old), we went white water rafting, had a party for the holiday, and went to a wave pool…..we had so much fun, I was so sad to see everyone go. Continue reading

Insanity: Week 5

week5recap

I finished week 6 of insanity yesterday….. but since they don’t count the “recovery week” as a week (which makes no sense at all) it’s known as “week 5” in the program….so this post will be my review of week 5. Holy hell, the workouts in “Month 2” are a LOT harder!! They are longer by 10-15 minutes (which in insanity time is a LOT LONGER)….and a lot more intense. On Monday, my first workout of the week I burned 761 calories in 1 hour….. Continue reading

I called my family doctor to make an appointment and they said they could squeeze me in this afternoon. First I told the doctor about my constipation/stomach issues, then I told her about my weight loss (or lack there of) journey and how frustrated I was! She asked me a million questions, felt around on my stomach and back….then told me that she wanted me to try a prescription called Amitiza for my bowels. It’s prescribed for IBS with constipation (SEE I KNEW I HAD IBS!!!).
